When LinkedIn was created their goal was to combine search and job classifieds into something they called “Professional People Search 2.0”. Over the years LinkedIn has grown to become one of the most widely used websites and social networking sites and has virtually no competition when it comes to networking professionally.
Their original goal to become the go-to resource for finding employees and job opportunities has been reached and exceeded, with almost everyone on LinkedIn looking to do one or the other. While getting hired remains the easiest way to make money from your LinkedIn account, with the growth in popularity there are now several additional ways which you can use in order to earn extra income from your LinkedIn account.
1. Selling Products & Services
LinkedIn is extremely powerful when it comes to B2B sales and marketing. If you provide physical or digital products that are business-related, this may be the perfect channel for your marketing efforts. Some of the most common digital products that are sold on LinkedIn include:
- Web Seminars
- E-Books / Audio Books
- Reports and Statistics
On top of selling digital-only products, you can also expand this into selling non-digital products or services, which may include any of the following:
- Books (especially if they are business or professional development related)
- Business Services (this may include accounting, lawyers, growth strategists, etc..)
If you have a B2B product or service then LinkedIn simply has to be one of your marketing channels for acquiring customers. A combination of proper content creation and ad management may be the fuel your product or service needs to grow to the next level.
2. Finding Advertisers & Sponsors
If you own a website then LinkedIn could be a good hunting ground to help you find sponsors or advertisers who may want to advertise on your website or to provide you with affiliate links which you can use in your profile or website.
If you are just starting out, growing your network on LinkedIn may be difficult, so it could be beneficial to combine your search with increasing your connections. There are many effective ways to grow your network on LinkedIn and this would have to be a whole separate blog post of its own, however, connecting with “L.I.O.N.”s is a great way to rapidly grow your network to unprecedented levels.
3. Become an Influencer
Since we have seen the benefits that influencer marketing can provide to companies and social media users alike first hand, this is definitely our favorite. Influencer marketing on LinkedIn is still fairly new (compared to Instagram where it is already highly established), however where there is less competition there is only more opportunity.
There are several ways that you can use your influence on LinkedIn to earn money, however, influencer marketing on LinkedIn can take one of two main forms:
- Through a company page (where companies sponsor your posts)
- Through your own page (where you can use affiliate links in your profile website, or write articles about the advertising company)
Since we are a B2B company ourselves, we find that LinkedIn is a great channel for influencer marketing to B2B companies. Many companies are not easy to market due to the nature of their industry. If that’s the case, influencer marketing on LinkedIn may be the perfect way for you to reach that explosive growth.
As LinkedIn continues to evolve and release new features the number of monetization opportunities will most likely only grow. With almost no competition and easy follower growth tactics, with time this network is sure to become even greater than what it is today. We hope this article will help you earn more from your LinkedIn if you already have one, and if you don’t we hope it motivates you to open up and grow your account. Good luck!
